There are extra shims available in sets of 4x shims per set.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.4x4direct.co.za\/spares-online\/9225-touareg-front-door-shims-set-of-4x-09mm-shims.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here to buy your Touareg Door shims<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Because there is not much space to loosen the bolts, I used a short bit and spanner to loosen the bolts.<br \/>\nWith these shims one do not have to remove the bolts completely, you can just loosen the bolts until there is enough space to slide the shim in.<br \/>\nI added 2x shims per side on my Treg, the shims are made from 0.9mm thick 316 Stainless Steel.<\/p>\n<p>After you added the shims you must first carefully close the door as the striker pin will most probably be out of position. First re-adjust the striker pin. When you can close the door properly you can adjust the in and out position of the underside of the door.<\/p>\n<p>You can also mark the position of the bolts and hinge before you loosen the bolts, that way you can put it back in the position it was.<\/p>\n<p>I supported the door with a trolley jack, you can also get somebody to hold it for you, just keep in mind that the door is very
