Build your own LED Worklight
LED Worklight Conversion
I converted my old fluorescent worklight to a LED light.
All I needed for this conversion was a piece of electrical conduit, 330mm long and 20mm in diameter. I also used 3 pieces of 300mm 5050 LED strips.
I used my old fluorescent worklight. As those who have used these before might know, the tubes blow frequently and you have to pack them very securely otherwise the tubes break.
I removed the tube and electronics on the inside. Just cut the wire and chuck the old technology away.
I picked up a 330mm electrical conduit pipe on a building site nearby and the length was perfect.
I stuck the 3x 300mm LED Strip (5050) on the conduit pipe 120 degrees from each other. This ensure an even light all round. One mistake I made was to stick it so that the soldered ends was on the conduit as well. Because the end product is such a tight fit when you put it back into the sleeve, it did not fit when I wanted to put it into the sleeve. So I had to remove it again and stick the strips so that the joints are not on the conduit. The above picture shows the wrong way.
After I corrected above mentioned problem the tube with LED strips slide perfectly into the tube. I soldered the wires together. All three positives of the three LED strips to the positive of the existing leads and the same with all the negatives.
An here we have the final product, the LED worklight
